My Ideal Blush

Oh helloooo~! Can you believe it that we are now at the end of the month again? With Summer just around the corner, I'd love to share what's my favorite blush during Spring season. Yes, yes, I know I live in tropical climate, there's no such Spring in here. It feels like Summer the whole year. But, Jakarta weather sucks lately, it's sunny in the morning but suddenly turns gloomy in the afternoon, and rain falls in the night.

the body shop baked to last blush oh deer brush review

Anyway, despite the weather we have in here, when it comes to blush, I tend to wear a coral pink shade. Because, it fits my skin tone the best, mine is a medium skin tone with neutral undertones. I suggest you to find out your skin tone and undertones first before buying blusher, because the result would be more wonderful with the right shade.

The Body Shop Baked-To-Last Blush

Product descriptions: A blusher and a highlighter in a duo palette. Handmade and slow-baked on a terra cotta disc for up to eight hours of deliciously rich color.

Why baked makeup? Because, it's a lightweight product with more pigment, less talc, with super blending capability. Baked makeup has a creamier texture than most powdered makeup, and can be applied wet to give an airbrush kind of finish and better long-lasting coverage.

the body shop baked to last coral blush
It has tiny shimmering particles to give a healthy glow to your cheeks.

There are actually two shades, petal and coral. Petal has a more pigmented pinkish color that will suit fair skin tones. I can say the packaging is just so-so, it's made of lightweight plastic, but can you see the beautiful color it has? Also, the shimmer is very light, so it gives your cheek a natural flush that's perfect for daily blush.
However, I don't recommend these two blushers for everyone who have rosacea or blush a lot, because it would emphasize the redness on your cheeks even more.

The ingredients.

A little tip on finding the type of the blush that will suit your skin type. If you have dry skin or fine lines and wrinkles, try a cream blush. If your skin is oily, stick to powder blush. Powder blush is also better when the temperatures go up, while cream blush is better for cold weather.

For me, I personally can choose either powder or cream blush as my skin belongs to a combination type (oily forehead and nose, the rest is normal). So yeah.. It depends on the activities I'll have, if I know I'll do outdoors and likely to sweat, then a powder blush is a perfect choice.

The Body Shop "Oh Deer!" Blusher Brush by Leona Lewis

the body shop oh deer blusher brush review
Quirky shape for a brush, right? It looks like a flower from above.

This must be the cutest blusher brush ever! It's pink, handy, so girly, super-soft, and smooth designed by the talented singer Leona Lewis. The bristles are made of 100% synthetic hair, just like any other The Body Shop products, it's cruelty free! I have no problem whatsoever in applying the blush, it picks up the blush really well and blends the color to my cheeks flawlessly. Here what I'm talking about is The Body Shop Baked-To-Last Blush as I mentioned above.

Contrary to the blush application, I honestly don't like using this for applying face powder. As a comparison, I use Dior Diorskin Nude Compact and it already has its own brush that is way so much easier to control and reach every part of my face.

In conclusion, "Oh Deer!" Blusher Brush is great for blusher, highlighter, and even bronzer. It's named Blusher Brush for a reason after all. Another plus side, it looks cute too!

Here are some tips on applying blush for certain face shape:
  • Long face: Apply blush on the apples and blend out towards the temples.
  • Oval face: Apply blush on the apples of the cheeks or along the cheekbones and blend with a blush brush.
  • Round face: Apply your blush in an angular motion blending from the apples of the cheeks towards the temples.
  • Square face with a stronger jawline: Apply your blush in a linear motion a few inches from the sides of your nose towards the apples of the cheeks.

Jung In feat. Gary - Your Scent.

Omona, I was so excited when I first listened to their new song, I love Gary oppa! Do you guys watch Running Man? A variety show that's so popular in South Korea and even in East Asia and South East Asia, such as Indonesia! It was daebak too in Australia (I saw lots of fans stalking on the filming site, though mostly are Asian). Gary is one of Running Man family members, he is my MOST favorite member because lots of reasons, he's good-looking, charming, funny, foolish, and sweet with his on-screen couple, Song JiHyo. He's actually a hip-hop rapper, his group named LeeSsang. Jung In herself has already made many collaboration with LeeSsang too. Oh, why am I talking too much? I hope you enjoyed the new song! Click here & here if you want to hear more duet of Jung In and Gary.

Did you know Running Man members are coming with Park JiSung on June 1st - 2nd for Asian Dream Cup 2014?! I want to watch them so badly! I know it's such a wishful thinking, but what do you think, would there be a chance for them to carry out a mission in Jakarta? 'Cause I extremely hope so..! Let me know if you're going to the match as well :)

See you next month, my bumblebees!

  10. i personally loves lavender on my cheeks! i think it really brighten my complexion and you shoukd try it out too (buy the cheaper ones tho bc you might not like it). i have never really tried body shop's products, except their tea tree oil that comes in a very small bottle which i honestly too lazy to use and their body butters but it was my mom's, and i only use it like less than 10 times probably
warm pinks look natural on you and i dont like shimmers on my face tbh bc i have large pores. the product looks nice maybe i might try baked blushes in the future!

  19. Ah, my Internet went DC just now and I'm not sure if the comment was posted.

I was saying, I love the blush brush as it looks really soft to the touch. Is that you in the picture because if it is, you look really like a Korean model. So pretty!

I saw in your profile that you are in Indonesia which makes us SEA neighbours! Will be following you now on GFC. Hope we could continue to keep in touch.

Thank you for stopping by my blog, Mitch. I love seeing newcomers here and would check out your blog soon! Hoping to see you around more often!

As for your question. Different 5D escape reality companies would have different styles. You would be trapped in a room with a scenario and you are supposed to solve puzzles and break codes to slowly lead your way out of the room. Some companies would have spanking props. Some would just be simple ones. The fun lies in being able to solve the various puzzles and clues.

You've actually persuaded me to look into Body Shop make-up. I'm not a huge fan of theirs, especially their skincare ranges, but you've just made me realise that their stuff is actually pretty good quality, cruelty-free and affordable. Will be buying from them for sure. Actually, I'm going to check out what they have on their website now. Bloody LOVE Running Man. My fave is Gary too, but good-looking? I think he is adorable, but my Mum thinks he is uglaaay. I do prefer Jong-Kook looks wise. ;) Haha, you should write to the people at SBS. Have you seen the episodes where someone has written to Running Man and they've actually produced an ep based on their ideas? Maybe you should write to them and they might make a trip over to where you are. Hahah. Hope you're having a lovely start to the week. Rosemary x

  93. First of all, I have absolutely no idea how people survive in countries that only have summer. I'M ALREADY BAKING IN 20+ DEGREE WEATHER. Also, I think I actually like cream products in summer! Or at least the idea of it, since I haven't had a chance to try out my cream products yet since it's not really summer here yet.

THIS BLUSH IS PRETTY THOUGH. It kinda reminds me of the moon, and the mixed + pink colour is a beaut!

    1. LOLOLOL! Jakarta's average weather is 30+ degree! I am so jealous with those who live in a four-seasons country, I would probably hate the winter (because it's freaking cold! Yes of course, your kind of summer is pretty chill anyway for me) but I would love to experience living like that! HAHA..
Yeah, the mixed color is def prettier for blush ^^

    2. .......yeah I WOULD NEVER survive. I was in Asia for two months a few years back and jfc,IT'S SO HOT I WANTED TO CRY. 30-40 degree weather--insane! I like all seasons except summer...Winter has to be my favourite ;)
You definitely should go to a place with four seasons sometime! (Especially in Winter! It'll be a new experience! :D)

I went to the Body Shop today and they were having a sale, so I picked this blush up for $2CDN (did the conversion, that's like 21658 IDR)
IT'S SO PRETTY AND I'M EXCITED TO USE IT. So, thanks for the review! ;)

  98. Jakarta sounds like Florida, we have 2 seasons...hot & rainy :-) I agree with your assessment on the types of blush for your skin type. As I get older, I have converted to a cream blush. It doesn't sit in my fine lines like the powder blushes and it really stays put during those humid days.

  110. This looks like such a gorgeous blush, I love when they combine two different shades as it makes the product more affordable and you can mix up the look depending on your makeup that day. I wish more brands did this!

AAHHHH another Gary-Jung In song!! Thank you for this, Mitch! I was very surprised when I heard that they wanted to come to Indonesia and when it happened I was like, 'what? Is this real? OH NO IT IS, don't come don't come don't come, because I'm sure as heck I won't be able to see them when they're here for real!!'

    1. Aww, thank you ^^ I only went to see the match at GBK, it was like a funny kind of match LOL, seeing them in real life was just amazing experience because I usually see them on screen, so I couldn't believe it I saw them in person hahaha.. I saw some fans even stalked them after the match. Just crazy!
