Acne Fighting Routine

on
Wednesday, March 19, 2014
Who doesn't want to have a clear flawless skin? Most of adult population have experienced fighting acne, or more like zits. Even though acne is not a life threatening condition, it can impact your life, it can trigger insecurities and self esteem. For me personally, I have suffered acne since I was in university.

My every night acne fighting routine.

However, lately I've got zits and I guess it was because of makeup, bad diet and my poor sleeping schedule. So remember to remove your makeup properly and eat lesser fast food. I don't even eat veggies *sorry, it's a bad habit* I've been a picky eater ever since I was a child. I still remember the days I could spend hours just to eat my meals. Anyway, I am trying to change my lifestyle to eat more green, but not at home! Some veggies that I sometimes eat are like lettuce, broccoli, cucumber, kai-lan and spinach. I eat kimchi too at Korean BBQ. Other than that, I'll have a hard time to swallow T^T

Etude House AC Clinic Intense Pink Powder Water

I bought this altogether with the AC Clinic Intense Pink Powder Spot and 30 pieces of cotton swabs for IDR 135k. This bottle was made of plastic and contains 15 ml of a Caladine-like water. It smells refreshing to me, even if you're new to spot treatment, I bet you can handle this kind of smell. I use this after washing my face and remember to always shake the bottle. Although it's said that it can be used during the day before makeup application, I found that the white powder marked my zits and ended up looking weird because my CC cream couldn't cover it. So I use this during the day only when I just stay at home.

Etude House AC Clinic Intense Pink Powder Spot

Just like the name, it's really pink! It's a non comedogenic and formulated with salicylic acid and hinoki cypress. It smells like herbal medicine, but honestly, this acne spot treatment has the most tolerable smell from all the similar products I've ever used. Not to mention, it sticks to my skin really well, so it won't stain my pillow the next morning. I would definitely repurchase this item.

A glass bottle and it's for 12 months usage. YAY!

Oh, unlike the water one, do not shake the bottle! Allow the powder to settle and the bottom. That's why you would need a cotton swab to dip it. I use this after washing my face and applying my toner - emulsion - essence every night. This product has amazingly lessen my zits in three weeks. I'd recommend this to those who have acne prone skin.

Etude House AC Clinic Intense Pink Powder Patch

I actually wrote a review of this kind of product back in 2013, kindly read it here, you can find the review at the end of the post. I was actually shocked when I was at the cashier 'cause I bought this for IDR 48k, LOL. I thought the price would be about the same with The Face Shop and Tony Moly. Despite of the price, it works just the same. The strip contains 14 different size of patches. I don't think I'd repurchase this anymore, it's too expensive for a spot patch. I guess I'd just stick with Tony Moly.

The patch is really clear when I put it to my bare face.

Besides using all the products above, I still use Bedak Saripohatji regularly. I've cut the usage down to once or twice a week, I used to wear this mask every night before sleeping, but I'm afraid it'd make my skin dry. FYI, I am currently using it while writing this post :D

Anyway, fighting acne can leave scars. I have some brown spots on my face because of these zits *sigh* Thanks to makeup we can cover them. However, there are some treatments too to fades the brown spots, such as home remedies or laser. I prefer home remedies, though. It's cheaper, slowly but sure.

MBLAQ - Our Relationship.

Though I'm not a fan of MBLAQ, I find their 6th mini album interesting after watching the MV teaser for this song. Do you like it too?

Proudly Made in Indonesia

Well, as an Indonesian, I know I should have used many local products. Too bad I honestly don't use local products that much. After joining an Indonesian forum, I realized that there are a lot of good local products but I was just too skeptical about them. It turns out that local products are just as good as the imported ones!
So now, I'll be reviewing Indonesian products that I've used lately regularly!

1. Bedak Saripohatji
The packaging is very simple and vintage (hell yeah since 1927!)
Well, if you understand Indonesian then you might find this instruction really funny.

Has anyone heard of this? It's one of my fave skincare products. It's a corn-grain shaped powder that helps to prevent and dry a zit. How do I use it: mix 2 - 3 grains with white rose water (you can find the white rose water at Century, Guardian or hypermarkets, I'm using the one from Mustika Ratu), then use them as a facial mask. Leave them for 3 hours, after that you just need to clean it with your bare hand, no wash needed. Do this every night and leave it naturally until morning. Another good thing about this product is the cheap price! I bought five of them for IDR 10k! Yup. Only one USD :D so cheap yet effective!
Repurchase: YES

2. Mizzu Eyeliner Pen
I bought the brown color. They sell the black color as well.
The packaging comes perfectly fine with bubble wrap,
but I accidentally cut the packaging along the bubble wrap, that's why it looks messy.
As the ingredients, they are safe since it's registered to Indonesian FDA.

This eyeliner pen was such a phenomenon on Instagram, lots of public figure endorse it so I was curious ever since.

Even though I am not a newbie when it comes to eyeliners, I still find applying liners to my eye is somewhat difficult. LOL. Most of blogger's reviews about this eyeliners are it is an eyeliner for a newbie, but why do I find using a pen eyeliner is harder than the pencil or liquid ones? I don't know if it's only me or what. More practice needed, maybe?
Overall, the brown color turns out to be lighter than my usual liquid eyeliner which I almost never wear. I have these asian eyelids, although mine aren't monolids, but I feel like wearing eyeliners make my eyes appear smaller.
It's waterproof and it will still look okay as long as you don't rub it. Mine stays for 8 hours.
Price: IDR 20k
Repurchase: Probably YES

3. Mizzu Power Volume Mascara
They have a decent packaging, yes?
Mascara only come in black color, it is waterproof.
I like the wand.

For me wearing a mascara is a must, I curl my lashes first of course before coating my eyelashes. What I love about this mascara is the wand applicator, it won't make your eyelashes clumpy. I do apply 2 coats, though. Tip: make sure let it dry between coats. What I dislike about this mascara is the waterproof statement because it wasn't that waterproof. It'd probably work fine with people with curly lashes by nature, but not for me unfortunately *sighs*. Since it doesn't hold my curls, it was too time consuming for me to curl my lashes again.
Price: IDR 30k
Repurchase: NO

4. Marcks' Beauty Powder
 The front packaging.
I bet most of Indonesians must've seen this product!
It has salicylic acid in it! Which a plus side for people who have acne prone skin like me :)

I got mine the creme shade, it has three shade: white, rose, and creme. I've been researching before buying this, the creme color apparently still looks too whitey for most Indonesian. However, it blends quickly with my CC cream. It has a weird fragrance at first but I think I slowly get used to it. The powder is a loose powder. I prefer applying this powder with brush. Besides it's affordable price, you can find this loose powder easily everywhere. Even at your nearest mini mart!
Price: IDR 13k (it doesn't come with powder puff nor a mirror)
Repurchase: YES

HAPPY EARLY VALENTINE'S DAY, LOVES!! Let's spread the love everyday!

P.S: I bought all of the products online, except the Marcks' Beauty Powder. If you are interested in buying them, I could give you the contact person. If you wonder why I didn't even write the contact person, well it's because this is not a promotional purpose anyways :P
